Mark speaks to AUDREY MCCREADY, former EU commission employee about the facts and fiction of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
She talks about her experiences whilst in the EU commission, her uncertainties about where the interpretations are coming from with regards to TTIP allegedly forcing companies to privatize public services, how the economic and political problems to today’s world have made people reluctant about the matter, why health services shouldn’t be part of negotiations for TTIP, how all updates are up on the commission’s website and how it’s very easy for the general media to take any news out of proportion.
She also talks about how nothing will be allowed in the food market in the EU if it isn’t proven to be safe, the concern coming from European farmers about cheaper American beef and the concerns and truth behind the Investors State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) process.
