Northside Today’s Noel McGuinness speaks to ROISIN LONERGAN, festival director for the the Five Lamps Arts Festival in Dublin’s North Strand.
Roisin talks about the story behind the festival, the details and performers for this year’s festival, the choice of venues in the area, how the local community can get involved with the festival and the huge number of volunteers involved in the festival.
Noel also spoke to BECKY RILEY and DEIRDRE MURPHY from the “Fumbalinas”. They talk about their involvement in the festival and the experience they hope to give people with their show.
Noel also speaks to DAYO RICHARDSON from Dayo & The Swingfolk. After performing his track “Child Taking Flight”, Dayo explains the background of the song, the great acoustics of the performance space and how he processes writing his songs.
Noel finally speaks to JOHN MACDONALD, year head & interior architecture tutor at Marino College. John talks about how things have improved in Marino since the recession, the work available for students around the country, how learning can be divided between form and function, the preservation of local buildings particularly in the north east Georgian quarter, the 4 year programme that the college offers to become an interior architect and his pros and cons in the building and renovations being done across Dublin.
