Mark speaks to several people live at the Open Day in Colaiste Dhulaigh.
He firstly speaks with MARY HICKEY, principal of Colaiste Dhulaigh. She talks about the recruitment for the upcoming year, the staff and students’ contribution to the open day, the courses they offer for people looking for additional skills and how such courses can help people get confidence in their search for employment.
He then speaks with CIARAN MCNULTY, head of marketing in Colaiste Dhulaigh. He talks about what young people are engaged with today, what they’re trying to do to appeal to young people with stuff like online competitions and their awareness of making new courses that will compliment sectors where jobs will be available in the future.
He then speaks to MICHELLE FELINE, coordinator of the art and design portfolio preparation course. She talks about the details of the course, the different art courses in the college, why it’s important for students to grow confidence with their own approaches and how students can apply to the courses.
He then speaks to DAVE GREGG from the media department in the college. He talks about the longevity of the media courses, the different media courses available from animation to sound and the journalism degree associated with Near FM and Wolverhampton.
He then speaks to GOSIA GALUSZKA, an interior design student in the college. She talks about what drew her to the course, what surprised her about the course, her plans when she finishes the course and what advice she’d give to anyone interested in a course in the college.
He finally speaks to DAVE CURRAN, head of journalism in the college. He talks about how journalism can be opinion driven at times, examples of how different types of people are interested in particular types of journalism, how journalism should be more balanced and the details of the course.
