Play

JULIANNE MOONEY, Programme Director of this year’s Dublin Book Festival joins Eoin Drinan to share details of some of the events taking place.

Julianne says the Festival launch will take place on Thursday evening with RTE’s Arena radio show broadcasting live from the event.

On the Friday there will be readings from some of Ireland’s leading poets. Over the weekend there will be a a series of talks on various aspects of creative writing. There will also be events for children.

Julianne says the hardest part of curating the festival is trying to fit everyone in. It is important to include as many genres as possible and make it as accessible as possible.

The Festival is designed to encourage and nurture young talent to maintain Ireland’s position as a ‘literary hub’ far into the future. A special event for young writers will be held on the Friday evening.
