Education Programmes and Culture Night Events in St. Patrick’s Catheral

ANDREW SMITH Education Officer with St. Patrick’s Cathedral talks to NOEL MC GUINNESS about education programmes and Culture Night events in the Cathedral.

ANDREW tells us about the Evensong programme in the Cathedral which features the oldest choir in Ireland.

There are also some very interesting tours available. Some 400,000 people a year visit St Patrick’s but a very small proportion of these are Irish. Consequently, the Cathedral staff are offering free guided tours and workshops to schoolchildren from anywhere in Ireland. This is a recent innovation. It was greeted with huge enthusiasm by primary and secondary schools. The students dress in medieaval costume and learn about the early days of the Cathedral’s existence.
