Play

VERA SMITH, organiser of the third annual Russian Cultural Festival talks to Noel McGuinness about the differences and similarities between Ireland and Russia.

The Russian Cultural Festival introduces Irish visitors to a wide range of Russian cultural activities and artifacts, from food to dancing.

Vera tells Noel a few things about Russia that he didn’t know before, like the fact that it takes seven days to cross this – the largest country in the world – by train, and you cross nine international datelines while you do it. The information goes both ways. many Russians apparently believe that Ireland is still a part of the UK. There’s a lot of learning to be done on both sides then.
