The much anticipated Rush Harbour Festival kicks off on Friday, 31st July and is jam packed with lots of activities for all ages. The official opening is at 7pm with St Maur’s Pipe Band followed by an energetic display of drumming from the Japanese drummers.
ANNE McCrUDDEN tells Mark Finnegan more.
There will be some spectacular events lined up, including an amazing Air Show and Parachute Jump on Sunday, 2nd August that will rival anything, anywhere in the country. The organisers of the Bray Air Show are bringing a mini version to Rush. “We are delighted to be hosting this for the first time and it will prove to be a big attraction to people. “We will have Sbach, Chipmunks, Mini-Mig and hopefully lots more. The finale will be a parachutist landing on the Harbour Beach (this is all weather dependent). Without the support of sponsor, Dermot McNamara & Co and Fingal County Council, who are giving their utmost support, this would not be happening,” said committee member, Angela Byrne.
For the older generation, showband legend, Brendan Bowyer will turn back the clock and bring some great memories flooding back, as performs the Hucklebuck and other great hits on Sunday evening, in a show not to be missed.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be something for everyone, with lots of family fun events, including a Craft Market in the Marquee, with cakes, jewellery, jams and numerous crafts available and a colouring competition entry. The winners will be on display the week after the festival. There will also be an are exhibition in a number of premises on the main street for the duration of the festival.
