CARMEL WHELAN joins Noel McGuinness to talk about the Ossia Youth Choir. They begin by discussing the beginnings of the choir, which Carmel set up. With participants aged between 9 and 16 years of age there are on average thirty members of the choir at any one time. With no previous experience needed the choir asks only that participants be enthusiastic.
Carmel tells of an upcoming concert in aid of mental health and also mentions that the choir covers many contemporary pieces of music which they rearrange for a choral environment. They discuss the types of engagements which the choir has partaken in thus far including a fashion show in Marino.
Carmel shares that while the choir is mostly made up of girls, there are a number of boys involved. They finish by discussing details of three impending concerts that the group will be performing at.
