PHIL HARRINGTON, CEO of music festival YouBloom joins Eoin Drinan to discuss the festival and its aims. He explains that the festival is a showcase for upcoming bands which includes live gigs and a large music conference with speakers from the USA, UK and Ireland sharing knowledge of the industry.
They discuss the possibility that Youbloom could be Ireland’s equivalent of SXSW in Austin, Texas. Phil shares some history of the festival, how it began as a song contest and has grown over the previous three years. They discuss the various genres that tend to be involved with the festival and talk about the curation process for the event.
We hear of the involvement of First Music Contact in organising the venues for the events. They also discuss having an inclusive framework in terms of genres, trying to move towards being like the “Festival of World Cultures” in its approach to including a multitude of genres.
Phil goes on to talk more about the individual speakers involved with the event in 2013 and offers their website details.
