Opposing the Property Tax in 2013

Play

FRANCIS KEOGH- CAWHT joins John Healy to discuss the Property Tax recently introduced in Ireland. They discuss elderly members of society being afraid of the impending tax. Francis talks of the protest marches organised and encourages people to join the cause.

Francis suggests that people should also contact their local councillors to lobby on their behalf. They discuss some examples of local people effected by the financial strain of the tax and suggest that many people only have 50euro left at the end of the month once everything is paid for and the fact that this tax will put them directly onto the breadline.

Francis talks of some of the ways that Government are trying to encourage people to comply with the payment and they talk of an upcoming meeting taking place in the area.
