Pat Meehan talks to TERRY MURRAY about Raheny Libraries 40th Anniversary. The library officially opened on the 8th November 1972. The children’s library in Raheny is very well used, in and out of school hours. Terry explains that any communication endevour the library can facilitate.
As well as borrowing books people can borrow audio books, which is particularly welcome for people with visual impairments. There are DVDs to rent. Also lots of talks and exhibitions. There is free WiFi. Lots of students come in for studying.
Children’s authors talks are quite regular and very popular in Raheny library.
On Tuesday evenings there is a French/English language exchange. This is very beneficial for language students.
On Wednesday mornings there is a knitting group.
