DAVE O CONNOR, secretary of the NEAR Media Co-op, gives Noel McGuinness a round up of events at the co-op in the previous months. Dave says it has been a tough year financially for the sector but that thankfully NEAR has been able to keep going.
Dave tells of the Sound and Vision fund, to which anyone can apply in order to make programmes. They talk of two series that have been created within the co-op using funding from the Broadcasting Association of Ireland initiative, including The Long Walk Home and Lovers of Life. Dave gives a preview of what will be broadcast over the Christmas period on the station and tells of the “Listen again” options available on the Near podcasting service.
Also discussed are the training courses NEAR offers, including computer classes and media training.
