TIM RYAN operations officer with Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company speaks to Eoin about the plans to create “The Urban Beach” in Dun Laoghaire Harbour, which will have heated and treated sea water. Tim also shares that there will be a larger Urban beach area close by which will feature cafe and showering facilities.
Tim speaks of the prevalence of Urban beaches in other countries around Europe, mentioning that most of these beaches feed off of Rivers. He speaks of the benefit of the area being available to use year round and also giving children an opportunity to experience swimming in sea water, under safer conditions due to a lack of potentially jagged rock underfoot.
He tells of plans to hopefully put the project into action before the end of 2013.
