Rabble Magazine a self-titled “Underground Rag”

Play

JAMES REDMOND of Rabble, an “Underground Rag”, joins Noel McGuinness to discuss the volunteer based newspaper. He explains that at the time they have begun using crowdfunding to fund the venture. The print costs for the magazine are covered by this fundraising so the magazine itself is free to the public.

James speaks of the benefits of publishing a physical print magazine in comparison to a digital “zine”. We hear that many of the people involved in the venture have no “traditional” background in journalism.

Noel asks James about censorship and libel associated with publishing the magazine and James also explains how they do a call out before each issue looking for submissions of work. We hear that they have managed to output five issues in the previous year and in general they aim for four issues a year.

James details some of the positive feedback which they have received and also speaks of how people can get involved with the magazine itself.
