Removing Kilbarrack Dart Staff Causes Pain For Wheelchair Users

MICHEAL MacDONNCHA (SF) talks to Noel McGuinness about the protests against the Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail plan to remove staff from Kilbarrack train station. MICHAEL believes it could bring big problems for disabled DART users.

Councillor Mac Donncha has called on Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail to reverse its decision to remove staff from the station. He said:

“Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail management has decided to remove staff from Kilbarrack station. This is a backward step and threatens to turn it into a ghost station. Thousands use the DART service at this station and this would diminish the service. Removing staff would be especially inconvenient for people with disabilities. Already wheelchair users are requested to notify the company 24 hours in advance of travel so ramps can be provided. This is bad enough, but de-staffing Kilbarrack would make it worse. This decision should be reversed.”
