PATRICK O’SULLIVAN, organiser of the forthcoming Christmas 2013 Toy Fair at the RDS, joins John Healy to discuss some of the event’s highlights.
Patrick says all the top toy manufacturers will be represented but says that it’s about much more than just the toys. It will be a fun day out where visitors can take the train to Santa’s Post Office to visit Santa himself. There will also be Nerf gun demonstrations and many interactive family exhibits.
Pricing at the event will, apparently, be very competitive at the event. There will be a number of other facilities available including a storage area and courier service.
There will also be themed areas at the event, including a dedicated Lego area, a Transformers display beside a giant Optimus Prime, and life-size doll houses. They will have a large Play Doh area where children can make as much mess as they like.
They also speculate on the return of many toys which were popular in previous decades such as Rubik’s Cubes and Furby. Patrick speaks of the improvements in cheap technology which has brought a new element to toys, with many now having computer technology which can connect a toy to an online environment.
They finish by discussing how 50% of the top toys for 2013 are available for less than €30.00.
