JAMIE COPE from North Dublin Water Polo Club joins Amanda Ni Gabhann in studio. He begins by telling her about of the origins of water polo in eastern Europe and how it has progressed over the last 90 years in Ireland.
Jamie’s own club was founded in the 1920s. They started playing in Clontarf Baths, and now are at the Trinity Gaels Sports and Leisure Centre . With a division one, division two and division three team in place, as well as some junior clubs, they are now trying to encourage more junior players to join them.
There are no serious prerequisites for water polo players: as long as you can swim you should be able to get involved.
