United in Adversity: International Representation at EU Parliament

Play

SIMON McKEAGNEY, Irish spokesperson for ‘United in Adversity’ explains the project to Eoin Drinan. United in Adversity began as a five month internship in the European Parliament, looking at how the EU was reacting to the European financial crisis with particular emphasis on youth unemployment. Simon says there is a disconnect between what the general populations in different member states feel they are represented at EU Parliament level.

Simon says the financial crisis is a European problem felt across all the member states. He tells Eoin about future plans for the project as the first set of interns prepare to return to their own countries at the end of a five month programme.
