LINDA HAYDEN of the Darndale/Belcamp Village Centre talks to Pat Meehan about the new Senior Citizen Alert Scheme. This is a system that they fit in peoples’ homes where an alarm allows older people to contact a support person in case of Emergency. The alarm is worn by the person. A monitored smoke detector, carbon monoxide, and Internal and external lights are also installed. To qualify you must be over 65, and living alone, or living with a partner who is over 65.

The Older People Support Network in North East Dublin has added a Senior Citizen Alert Scheme to their range of services. They also offer information and support to older clients, referrals to meals on wheels, inter-generational projects, social clubs, home maintenance, monthly newsletters.
