Pat Meehan speaks to CATHERINE O’CONNOR, the support officer from the Irish Girl Guides about a new book that they have launched. The book is about disseminating the Millennium Development Goals to young people by making them young person friendly. Catherine also discusses the background of the Irish Girl Guides and what they do, including giving the girls confidence and allowing them to sample a wide range of activities. Encouraging girls to pursue what they are interested in and give them confidence are key goals of guiding. There is also opportunities for girl guides to travel as representatives of the Guides. Catherine also gives contact details and information on how to join the Girl Guides.
